Video release

I am so grateful that someone as talented as Zach Von Joo has made a video for one of my songs, and I can't wait to celebrate! We're doing that at The Lost Church in San Francisco on June 20th, the video will be made public that night at midnight. Local faves Bramble and Briar are opening, and Zach will be doing film projections during my set.

It's a dream, it's strange, it's made in film and super 8 and goes with the song beautifully. Zach has worked on a number of other local music projects, including collaborations with Hannah Lew of Grass Widow. You can see some of his personal work on his vimeo channel. Here are a few stills :

The song is The Deer Convention, the title track of my last album.
Yay!

On happiness and feminism

"For me, trying to be happy on my own terms is part of being a feminist. Women are constantly under attack. Whether it's with awful shoes or the idea that we shouldn't aim too high. We should all aim for absolute, sovereign happiness always."

Lucy McKenzie, interviewed in The Gentlewoman, issue 5.

Magpie Magazine

Very honored to be featured in Magpie Magazine issue 5 - alongside such talents as Mariee Sioux, Alela Diane or Meg Baird. I received my copy last week and am still discovering a bunch of new artists, musicians, writers and illustrators. Visit the Magpie here to get your own copy!

I've been working on finishing a bunch of songs I started recording over 5 years ago, it'll be a little EP soon - so here's a sneak peek, with new vocals as of monday. I couldn't resist. Pedal steel by Tom Heyman, harp by Christina Zirker.

To the woods

Wouldn't it be lovely to sit there on a warm morning while listening to this album?
